How to seal paper mailers with Peel and Seal from Wisconsin Converting, Inc.

At Wisconsin Converting, we know that the smallest details can make the biggest difference in your shipping process. That’s why our paper mailers come equipped with an easy-to-use Peel & Seal closure – a fast, secure, and tamper-evident solution that keeps your goods safe in transit.

But just like any tool, using it the right way matters.

We put together a short video (below) to show you how to get the strongest possible seal, and avoid common sealing mistakes that can lead to packaging failures.

✅ Quick step-by-step instructions
❌ What not to do (like overstuffing the mailer)
💡 Tips to make the seal stick better and hold stronger

✅ Best Practices for Peel & Seal Closures

  1. Peel the Strip Cleanly: Remove the protective backing to expose the pressure-sensitive adhesive.
  2. Seal on a Flat Surface: Lay the mailer flat and fold the flap down. Press firmly along the entire adhesive strip — edge to edge — to ensure full contact.
  3. Apply Even Pressure: The seal is pressure-activated, so take a few extra seconds to press evenly across the strip. This helps the adhesive bond properly.
  4. Give It a Moment: After sealing, let the mailer sit for a short time. The adhesive continues to strengthen after application, helping prevent tampering and failure in transit.

💡 What Makes WCI Mailers and Shipping Bags Different?

We’ve recently introduced our proprietary Eco-Bond™ process, which enhances the strength of the Peel & Seal closure by improving the bond between the flap and the mailer. The result? A stronger seal that holds up under pressure, without adding any non-recyclable components.

It’s part of our commitment to offering eco-friendly, high-performance packaging made right here in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

❌ What to Avoid

Even the best materials can fall short if not used properly. One of the most common issues we see is overfilling mailers. When a mailer is too full, the flap can’t lie flat — which means the adhesive doesn’t get full contact. That weakens the seal and increases the risk of the package opening during transit.

Pro Tip: Leave just enough space to fold the flap down cleanly and press evenly.
